These are the eagerly anticipated Robin Gibb's Blue Glass Mews by KTT Official family endorsed Robin Gibb ‘colander frame’ shades actually designed by Robin. ‘Bodding’s Steam Baskets’ are a chrome metallic, retro-style, round-cut lens framed pair of truly stellar & stunning Steampunk shades, with anti-reflective & UV400 protected lenses.
As we've stated previously, we always strive, whenever & wherever possible, to make affordable to the many what is usually only affordable to the few. With these shades, which are normally between £150 - £300, we pulled strings & called in favours, as well as utilised some good old fashioned haggling, to slash the price down to just £99.99, an incredible 'steal' of an offer.
But all who reserve a pair now via e-mail, will receive a discount:
Based on an idea Robin had for the Ideal Steampunk shades, these are a Limited Edition range, & as such, all designs in the 'Steam-Basket’ range afford our customer a KTTGibb Family Club membership & of course all of the benefits such a membership has to offer.
Robin & his son RJ's brainstorming "jam sessions" during their breaks, in-between recording, at Redbreast Record's own Coronation Studios in Oxfordshire, which took place there over roughly a 5 year period from 2007 - 2012, really ‘fleshed out’ the original idea, which began when Robin visited a small Mews off of Camden Market along with his good friend John Lennon of the Beatles. There they discovered a small (almost hidden away) store selling all sorts of fashion oddities. One of those oddities were Steampunk round-cut sunglasses. They both instantly fell in love with the modern-meets-Victorian eclectic feel of this style. A style they both adopted.
This as well as many other design ideas were forged at the sessions. Over time we'll be revealing as many of those designs as we can.
*Fittingly, we've included a new lens colour: 'tea-tints' in honour of Robin's favourite drink.
